The Neutral Zone

“The place between two somewheres.” That’s how William Bridges, an expert on change and transition, describes the Neutral Zone. Most of us hate the place, but it’s crucial to our becoming.


“Wonder is the beginning of wisdom,” said Socrates. I’d like to take this moment to invite us to give wonder a more revered place in our lives.


Often, when we’re struggling, we make it even worse for ourselves by getting stuck in the story that we’re uniquely wrong and shameful for dealing with whatever it is. The truth is the opposite: Our pain connects us. Here are the 4 steps I use to practice self-compassion.
